Zoom Teeth Whitening FAQs

Nov 01, 2020

Teeth discoloration is unattractive and sometimes give an assumption that you have poor dental hygiene practices. While you can use home remedies to keep your teeth white, we recommend getting a professional teeth whitening procedure. This is because it is safe and gentle on your teeth. There are several professional teeth whitening procedures that you can use, but we talk about Zoom teeth whitening in this post.

Why and When is Teeth Whitening Recommended?

Teeth discoloration is, at times, inevitable because of intrinsic factors like age and medication. However, there are extrinsic stains that are caused by our lifestyle and the things we eat.

For example, consuming too much coffee, tea, wine, smoking, and poor dental hygiene can cause discolored teeth. With time, the enamel will get stained and darken. Well, getting regular dental cleanings in 77493 may remove some of the stains and keep your teeth bright. However, if you don’t get routine cleaning, you may end up with severe discoloration and need teeth whitening.

The dentist may also recommend teeth whitening before fixing dental restorations like veneers, bridges, and crowns. These dental restorations cannot be whitened or shade altered after they are fixed.

What is Zoom Teeth Whitening?

Several teeth whitening systems are available that might whiten your teeth. However, at Dr. Teeth Dental Care, we give Zoom teeth whitening.

Zoom teeth whitening uses accelerated light to activate 25 percent of the whitening agent. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken, oxygen is produced, which enters the enamel and dentin to remove stains that lie underneath.

The Zoom teeth whitening is available in two versions; the in-office and take-home kits. The dentist will evaluate your teeth and decide which type of teeth whitening is ideal. However, if you want faster results, the in-office option may be a suitable option.

How is it Done?

  • Zoom in-office teeth whitening.

This is done at our dental clinic, after the dental examination and deep cleaning. The complete in-office teeth whitening is done in under an hour. Our dentist in Katy will conduct first the session by covering your lips and gums with a protective gel to shield them from bruising.

Next, he will apply the Zoom hydrogen peroxide, which contains 25 percent of the whitening agent. The dentist will use a Zoom light to penetrate the teeth and remove the discoloration. The gel is left to sit for 15 minutes with light activation. This process is repeated for three sessions depending on the level of discoloration.

The procedure is safe, but people with gag reflex may find the procedure difficult. The dentist may recommend sedation dentistry to ease the discomfort and make the process easy and fast.

  • At-home whitening kits

Zoom take-home teeth whitening is convenient and safe. It offers similar whitening results but with less sensitivity. The teeth whitening treatment starts with a consultation with the dentist to create the best teeth whitening results.

There are two options for the take-home whitening kits that you can choose. Each option has a different whitening strength formula. You can choose Zoom DayWhite that involves wearing the whitening trays for 30 minutes, twice a day.

We also have Zoom NiteWhite lets you whiten your teeth overnight and also gives you whitening results in two weeks.

The DayWhite and NiteWhite are worn the same way:

  • Get rid of any plaques
  • Put a teardrop of the whitening gel into the trays and gently place them on the teeth
  • Remove and clean the trays after the formulation time is up
  • Clean your teeth for a bright smile

What to do After the Whitening Procedure?

Zoom teeth whitening is fast and effective. However, the results are not permanent, and your teeth may discolor based on your lifestyle. Avoid the overconsumption of tea, coffee, wine, and cocoa. If you do take these beverages, clean your teeth immediately to stop the enamel from absorbing them.

Some people may develop tooth sensitivity after the whitening procedure. That is why it is important to have a comprehensive dental assessment.
