What to Do with a Cavity on the Front of Teeth

Cavities that are placed on the front of a tooth are a little rarer than regular cavities, but they are a real threat. The symptoms are very similar between the two types of cavities, and although rare, front-tooth cavities are not unheard of. They take a little more creativity to treat, but it’s far from impossible. Treatment for a cavity doesn’t vary too much, so you’re not in for a surprise. When it comes to corrosive acid and sugar that makes up a large part of drinks like coffee and sofa, teeth can easily become weakened, and a cavity can form, even on the front of a tooth.

What You Can Do

Unfortunately, if you leave your cavities untreated, then a small decayed portion of a tooth can lead to developing more cavities very quickly. Treatment for a cavity on the front of your tooth might be a little tricky for your Katy dentist, but since the procedures are basically the same, you are left with some very basic options for treatment.

Fluoride Treatment – Fluoride treatment is typical of a cavity that has just begun. This can reverse the erosion of the enamel.
Crown – A crown may be placed on the tooth if there has been significant damage to the enamel. Your dentist will first clean out the cavity and then cover the tooth with a crown.
Filling – For semi-young cavities, a filling is a great choice. It is easy to implement, not as obvious as a crown, and does the job well.
Root Canal – For cavities that have reached even the root of the tooth, then the treatment will be a little more extensive. A root canal is necessary in extreme cases to remove the cavity and restore the use of the tooth.

It’s important to go to the Katy family dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups if you want to avoid or treat cavities. Hopefully, with good care, you can avoid ever having a cavity in your life.
